Bush Industries, Jim GardeJim Garde - Chief Executive Officer

Jim Garde joined Bush Industries in August 2006 as Chief Financial Officer.  Prior to joining Bush, Jim held a number of finance and operations positions with increasing responsibility at Heidelberg and Harris Graphics in the printing equipment industry.  His last position was Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Heidelberg Digital, LLC in Rochester, New York.  Other assignments at Heidelberg included an international posting in Germany as Managing Director, Heidelberg Harris GmbH.  At Heidelberg, Jim established the entire financial and administrative structures to support digital printer operations acquired from Kodak.  He completed a $93 million renovation and build-out of an 800,000 square foot facility in Rochester, New York on-time and under budget and consolidated production activities to save $10 million annually.  Since joining Bush, Jim has greatly enhanced the Company’s financial reporting and business planning capabilities and has significantly upgraded the Finance and Accounting organization.  Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bryant University.

  

 

Neil Frederick - Finance and Administration

Neil Frederick joined Bush Industries in April 1988 as Director of Operational Accounting and has held a variety of management positions with the Company since then, including Treasurer and Vice President of Finance. He joined the Company after ten years with Rockwell International Corporation, where he held a variety of increasingly responsible financial management positions for its Automotive Operations. His last position was Controller of its New Castle, PA facility. Prior to that, he spent time in Changchun, China as Finance Director – China Operations.

Neil began his career at the Kansas City, KS plant of General Motors Assembly Division. Neil holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from General Motors Institute and a Master of Science in Industrial Administration degree from Krannert Graduate School of Management, Purdue University.

 

Mike Evans - Chief Marketing Officer

Mike Evans joined Bush Industries in October 1998 as Director of Operations at the Company’s Erie, Pennsylvania facility.  Since then, he has progressed through a succession of challenging assignments that have included Director of Management Information Systems, Vice President of Information Technology and Research and Development, Senior Vice President of Operations and Engineering, Executive Vice President of Product Leadership and to his current position, EVP of Business Development. In Mike’s current position he is focused on identifying, evaluating & pursuing strategic new business opportunities.  These efforts have included the negotiation, agreement & subsequent launch of a strategic brand licensing arrangement with Kathy Ireland Worldwide. This involves designing, producing and selling multiple lines of furniture under the kathy ireland by Bush Furniture brands.

Over his career with Bush, Mike has been responsible for the development of some of the company’s foremost product technologies and service offerings including the company’s direct delivery program and advances in product surface technologies.  Mike also directed the implementation of the company’s new product development and innovation processes. Prior to joining Bush, Mike was Chief Operating Officer of a custom molding company .  He began his career with IBM where he was involved in sales and engineering assignments.  Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.

 

Jerry Green - Operations

Jerry joined Bush Industries in February of 2008 as Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Management.  Prior to joining Bush, Jerry held a number of Supply Chain and Operations positions at Monsanto, Cabot Corporation, Honeywell and Armstrong World Industries.  His last position was with Armstrong World Industries as Vice President, Supply Chain Management.  He played a significant role in bringing Armstrong out of bankruptcy.

Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Cincinnati, Transportation and Logistics Management and participated in the Harvard Executive Management and Training Program.  He is Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and holds a Six Sigma Lean Master Black Belt.  

Previously, he was a Professor at the University of Cincinnati teaching Logisitcs and Supply Chain Management.

 

Stephen Phelan - BBF Sales

Stephen Phelan is an accomplished leader with an outstanding track record in sales and marketing management.  Steve has spent more than 18 years in the office products industry managing key accounts, building and developing sales organizations and implementing marketing strategies.

After graduating from Penn State with a B.S. in Marketing, Steve began a career in sales and was a top producer for Fortune 500 companies including Weyerhaeuser, Westvaco Corp. and Brown Forman (Lenox China).  He launched his office products career in 1990 when he took a position with Sanford Corporation (now Newell Inc.) as a Sales Representative in the New York metro market.  Steve then joined Rubbermaid Office Products, where he focused on key accounts in the same territory.  He was quickly promoted to Northeast District Sales Manager and in 1995, was promoted again to National Account Manager, Office Superstores, managing both retail and commercial businesses.

In 1996, Steve joined Avery Dennison as Northeast Region Sales Manager.  After two years of impressive results, he was promoted to run the East Region, overseeing sales for the eastern third of the U.S.  In this role, he was recognized for top region sales growth three out of four years.  In 2002, Steve was promoted to National Sales Manager, overseeing all facets of the company’s commercial selling organization.  Under his leadership, Avery was nationally recognized by several customers for its outstanding field sales support.

Steve joined Bush Industries in May, 2008 as Executive Vice President of Sales.  In addition to building and developing a best-in-class sales organization, he is focused on implementing strategies that drive sales growth of Bush’s core product lines through the retail, commercial and internet channels.

 

Larry Genareo - Global Sourcing

Larry joined Bush Industries in February 1989 as Manager of Quality Engineering. Since joining the Company, Larry has progressed through a series of operations assignments including Plant Manager – Mason Drive, Vice President of Operations and Process Control, Senior Vice President of Operations – North American Furniture, Senior Vice President of Operations and Imports and to his present position in Global Sourcing. Larry has been instrumental in creating a culture of measurement and quantitative analysis in the operations areas and the establishment of the Company’s outstanding reputation for product quality, recognized by key customers as a competitive market advantage. He was also responsible for the establishment and effectively maintains Asian sourcing. Larry has led a company-wide consolidation and rationalization of manufacturing facilities and employees. Prior to joining the company, Larry was with Rockwell International in positions that included Quality Assurance Inspector, Quality Control Engineer, Manufacturing Project Manager and Manufacturing Manager. Larry is a Certified Quality Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Youngstown State University.
